"NOOOOOO!!" Obi-Wan screamed, trying to stop what was about to
happen. Watched as the Sith thrust the red beam through his
master's chest, saw the startled look pass over Qui-Gon's face.
Saw him slump to the floor, and end up on his back, still.
Turning his attention back to the Sith, trying to ignore the
silent form on the ground, Obi-Wan clenched his teeth. He had
to fight back the rage, or it would consume him, and that would
not avenge Qui-Gon. He wanted to give in to it so badly... A
deep breath, and he managed to master his fury, channel the
energy that it gave him so that it wasn't dangerous.
Just as he managed to restrain the killing fury that had
threatened to overwhelm him, the force fields cycled through
and he launched himself at the Sith, who sneered, waiting for
him. Obi-Wan slashed and attacked, defending himself, and tried
to get past the guard of the demon that had killed his
master....
With a final quick glance toward where Qui-Gon's saber lay,
Obi-Wan took a deep breath and gathered the Force in to him.
Leaping, and calling Qui-Gon's saber to him at the same time,
Obi-Wan somesaulted over the Sith, and landing, sliced
sideways.
Felling a surge of satisfaction, Obi-Wan watched the demon fall
down the shaft, took a deep delight in the surprised look on
the face, as his body seperated into two pieces, and both fell.
Dropping the lightsaber, Obi-Wan ran over to his master's side.
Gathering him up, he lay Qui-Gon's head in his lap. Trying to
keep his Master from slipping into unconsiousness, he sang.
Where do we go from here
This isn't where, we intended to be
We had it all, you believed in me
I believed in you
"Master. Please, don't go. Don't leave me." Tears ran down
Obi-Wan's face, and dripped onto Qui-Gon's tunic.
His Master opened his eyes, and smiled. "Don't worry, Obi-Wan,
I will always be with you." Taking a breath, he raised his hand
to his padawan's face, brushing the tears away. "Continue. I
love the sound of your voice."
Certainties disappear
What do we do for our dream to survive
How do we keep all our passions alive
As we used to do
Deep in my heart I'm concealing
Things that I'm longing to say
Scared to confess what I'm feeling
Frightened you'll slip away
You must love me
You must love me
Smiling, Qui-Gon felt through the Force, the shining presence
of his Padawan, bright blue, and so strong. He felt the Force
coming for him, getting ready to bring him to this new plane of
existence. With a bit of strength that came from out of
nowhere, he sang to his apprentice, trying to make him see that
it wasn't forever.
Why are you at my side
How can I be any use to you now
Give me a chance, and I'll let you see how
Nothing has changed
Obi-Wan blinked quickly through the tears that would not stop
streaming down his face. Smiling a bit, he replyed with the
rest of the song.
Deep in my heart I'm concealing
Things that I'm longing to say
Scared to confess what I'm feeling
Frightened you'll slip away
You must love me
You must love me
As he was about to sing the last line, Qui-Gon joined him.
You...must...love...me...
As he sang the last word, Qui-Gon slumped in Obi-Wan's arms.
"L..ov..e you...pad..awan....."
"I love you Master."
Obi-Wan sat there on the floor, looking at the body of his
Master.
He was gone.
He couldn't believe it. He would never feel that beloved touch
again.
As Obi-Wan slumped over his Master's body, crying, several
hours passed.
Suddenly felt a Presence in the Force.
Get on with your life, Padawan. Don't stay here.
Looking around, Obi-Wan couldn't believe it.
"Master?"
I am here, Padawan, just like I promised. I will not leave
you, but you must get up and get on with your life. You
must train Anakin. He is the chosen one. I'm
counting on you, Obi-Wan.
Smiling through his tears, Obi-Wan tried to get up, but his
legs didn't want to work, being in a cramped postion for
several hours. On the second try, he managed.
"Yes, Master Qui-Gon"
Bending over, he picked up his Master's body, to take to the
temple. It still hurt, but the knowledge that he still wasn't
alone helped.......
