summary: Obi-Wan is stranded in space waiting to be rescued and
whiles away the time discussing a Jedi's most important weapon
with his Master.
disclaimer: George owns everything, except Liam Neeson's
lightsaber.
"Are you still there, Master?"
"Yes, Padawan, I shall always be here. Have you enough oxygen
left in the escape pod to last until I reach you?"
"I think so, Master, though I would request that you don't
dawdle."
"I have never dawdled, Padawan."
"Of course not, what was I thinking? And yet, if you had not
chosen to send me on ahead to Coruscant while you remained on
Titra to assist the new queen with her duties, perhaps I
wouldn't have been caught in the middle of a ship's mutiny and
forced to run for my life from a horde of Jedi hating Muliks."
"That was business, I assure you."
"Yes, she was lovely, and so interested in seeing your
lightsaber in action. I trust that, at the very least, you got
the opportunity to show off your skill with your weapon."
"Padawan, you're walking a very fine line."
"Am I Master? It's just that your lightsaber is legendary
throughout the galaxy. Why, there isn't a planet from here to
the Outer Rim that doesn't have a tale to tell about Qui-Gon
Jinn and his magnificent blade. I'm embarrassed to even pull
mine out in public for fear of being laughed at."
"Size isn't everything, Padawan. Skill and determination will
often carry the day, as my own Master use to say."
"That would be Master Cyrene? Was she the first one to teach
you to use your lightsaber?"
"Yes, and it was she that first pointed out that mine was quite
a bit larger than the other apprentices that she had trained."
"That must have been a difficult burden for you to bear."
"A Jedi's life is acceptance."
"Master?"
"Yes, Padawan?"
"It pains me to admit it, but I am still a novice in the use of
my lightsaber. There are so many things that I haven't tried
yet."
"There is no shame in this. You are young; you have many years
to exercise your weapon."
"You are right of course Master, but I feel that instruction
from you on the subject would be most beneficial. Also, I
confess that I would love to get my hands on your lightsaber
and see for myself if it is as impressive as I've heard."
"I'm certain that you would not be disappointed. However, it is
a serious matter for a Padawan and Master to take an interest
in each other's weapons. Much soul searching and meditation
should occur first."
"I agree. I would like to point out though, that I've thought
of nothing else for years now, but what it would feel like to
slide your lightsaber into my sheath. Would it slip in easily
or would it be necessary to ram it in? Perhaps it wouldn't fit
at all and we would have to think of somewhere else to stick
it."
"Padawan!"
"And if I allowed you to shove your lightsaber into my sheath,
would you let me do the same? I don't even know if that's an
idea that you find agreeable, Master. You are usually the one
to wield the blade, not be impaled on it. There are other
things that I've thought of doing as well. For instance, and
you may think I'm mad, but I've often fantasized about taking
the length of your lightsaber in my mouth and losing myself in
the white hot flood of energy. If I close my eyes, which I'm
doing now, I can see the sweat trickling down your chest as you
feverishly manipulate the blade back and forth for maximum
effectiveness. Then you throw back your head; your long mane
free and blowing in the wind and howl. 'Padawan, Padawan!' you
scream as wave after wave of thick, creamy light pulses through
my very soul."
"Master?"
"Master??"
"Hrumph, yes Padawan. I've just had a word with the captain and
informed him that it is absolutely essential that I reach you
at once. We shall rendezvous in less than 5 minutes. Hold
yourself in readiness, Padawan. Your lessons shall begin as
soon as your escape pod is brought aboard the ship. I shall
join you in the pod; have your lightsaber out and ready for
battle."
"But there isn't any room to maneuver in here."
"The proper use of a lightsaber in confined spaces is one of
the most important techniques that a young Jedi can learn. I
see your pod on the viewscreen and am now heading for the
docking bay. I shall come within minutes."
"I was hoping it would take longer than that, Master!"
"Do not worry, Padawan. Multiple engagements is one of the many
abilities of a Jedi Master."
