Obi-Wan concentrated in the circle of fire. He floated lotus
style above the conflaguration that danced about mystic symbols
on the floor.
By hel's eternal glow, let past timelines show.
Sheets of flame engulfed the rec room. The walls themselves
formed a panoramic viewscreen of Hel.
Show timespan of Quogan.
General scenes shifted. Obi-Wan smiled.
"Now this is what I've been looking for..."
Qui-Gon had fed particularly well that night. He did his best
to convince his lover to celebrate the evening properly, but
was turned down. Restlessly he turned in bed.
What's he about down there? I'd better go look...
Slipping on a robe he padded downstairs.
Obi-Wan grinned. The past came into full view. His fathers'
past...
In the grim gloom two large wolves cantered at measured
pace. One black, one silver. They were followed by a golden
cub, fur glimmering like polished metal.
Mother, uncle. What circle are we in now?
The black wolf turned her sleek head. Pay attention, Quogan.
We're in the sixth circle. Look about now.
The cub ran madly in circles around them both. Oh, look.
That soul over there is so fat. See how the others are all
burned up? Their skin is so messed up and cracked!
The silver wolf followed the cub to a craggy ledge. Charred
souls attacked each other near the lava pits. See, little
one? The violent think to relieve their agony with more
violence.
The cub snapped. Then they are stupid. I will bite them
Qui-Gon raced down the hill.
Llane came up alongside Litthsyss. Methinks he will find
soul a good bite.
A massive silver head nuzzled her sleek black one. Aye, but
he needs to keep his teeth out of stones.
The black she wolf krinkled her nose in a smile. True. And I
could use this respite.
The two adults sat on the jagged outcropping, their tails
touching. They watched the cub chase wicked souls.
Obi-Wan was serene as he observed the past. It's fascinating
to see the dimension of their relationship. They don't really
speak of it.
The scene continued. Litthsyss spoke, his pelt sparkling like
quicksilver.
This journey is too soon for thee. You are still
nursing.
The black she wolf leaned into him. Perhaps you're right. I
thought Quogan was strong enough to endure a week's journey
through hel. But my own stamina is not yet what I'd hoped.
He nosed her up. Come. Enough for one day. We'll rest in the
caves.
Llane could barely move now. Litthsyss nudged her along gently.
The sleek head was low in exhaustion. You'll have to get
Quogan.
Don't worry. Just rest they edged to the mouth of a
cave. Llane dropped in a patch of bushy growth.
Litthsyss paced across a rocky ridge. He bayed. The golden cub
ran towards him.
Where's mother? he ran in crazed circles.
Silly cub. Be still! Your mother rests in the caves. Now
come with me.
They padded back. Did you see me bite them?
Yes, I did.
They went on in silence a bit. The cub abruptly stopped,
wandering away again. He gobbled small stones rapidly.
The silver wolf turned. What are you about there? Come
back!
I'm hungry the cub yowled. He grabbed another stone, a
large one.
Litthsyss moved at him. Drop it!
Qui-Gon ran with the stone in his jaws and attempted to swallow
it. Litthsyss chased him down.
The great wolf shook him hard by the scruff. I said drop
it!!
Rattled senseless, the cub coughed up all the stones. Litthsyss
carried him over to Llane.
She lay at the mouth of the cave expectantly. Qui-Gon ran at
her, rooting at her teats.
I'm hungry, mother! a small nose poked.
Force. This cub will be the end of me yet! she watched
as he nursed voraciously. He feeds like nothing I've ever
seen.
He certainly grows fast enough.
Llane nodded, her tongue flapping out. It will be awhile
before he grows into his feet, though.
Litthsyss licked her. Stay here. I will bring thee a
soul.
Her eyes closed as Qui-Gon suckled milk. A tender one,
please.
Of course powerful haunches bounded across the dank
valley.
"Ha ha ha!!"
Obi-Wan spun. The flames went dark.
"Father!"
Big grin. "No wonder you didn't wish to come to bed!"
Sheepish shrug. "Well, I heard the story about you and the
stones so much I just wondered."
Electric blue eyes sparked. "Actually, I enjoyed that. Although
that specific memory I don't recall."
Obi-Wan floated down. "You mean your memory isn't complete?!"
Qui-Gon gripped him. "Oh yes. But an immortal has so many
isolated memories to access. I suppose if I focused on it I
would remember."
Obi-Wan kissed him. "You were a cute little cub. Cute but
greedy. That appetite was pretty frightening."
A snicker. Wild kisses on the fine face. "And I'm still
greedy. Now come upstairs" he pulled Obi-Wan along.
Obi-Wan laughed as he was being led. "As long as you don't
drain me dry, too!"
Qui-Gon gave a devilish wink. "Dragons are all appetite.
One tender lover on the side, please."
Obi-Wan looked through red lashes. "Here or to go?" his tongue
curled out.
"SSs. Right here!" Qui-Gon smothered his lips as they toppled
to the floor.
