Life of a Jedi

by Elizabeth Abernethy

The life of a Jedi is hard,
given over to acts of charity,
peace and purity.
Jedi do not surrender
to anger, jealousy, rage, fear.
Hush, listen to me here,
young one.
Jedi never give in
to the Darkside and wages of sin.

Jedi must strive for calm
as a soothing balm
to the galaxy's hurts.
They are the makers and enforcers of peace
though some value them the least.

Know well the Jedi Code,
stranger, in my solitary abode.
I know what I speak
and what it is you seek.
For a Jedi on his last breath
there is no death,
only the Force,
of course.

All revolves around it.
Now, stranger, sit.
Only fighting
when called for,
they must mediate
and on the Force concentrate.
Doing what is required
until from this life he expires.

If you would follow the Jedi Way,
heed now what I say.
A jedi may attend the hurt,
but must never be curt.
Always polite must he be,
for you see, as much on his wits
and weaponry, relies on diplomacy
when there is the need.
A Jedi does not throw fits
of temper or anger.
He walks at times into the greatest danger.

As the Code
from the days of old
do state, "There is no emotion, peace only.
              No ignorance, knowledge.
              No passion, only serenity.
              No death, just the Force."
So, you see naturally,
a Jedi must live in harmony
with his environment.
At times relying solely
on himself.

So, if you would follow the Jedi Way,
heed all I have spoken of this day.
From this never must you stray.
Well, anyway,
for now that is all I have to say.
Begone, stranger, from here.
Yes, I will be fine, dear.
Don't fear.
