Note: This was originally written as part of a commission (a real, paid commission) for a Dr Who related novel called "Walking To Babylon", written by Kate Orman (it's a very good book & you don't need any Who knowledge to read it) but was not used in that story (several other pieces of mine were). This one was a deliberate attempt at up-beat as opposed to serious angst/downbeat. And like many of the other things I wrote previous to TPM, looking at it with new eyes it tells a new tale. Think Obi-Wan encouraging Qui-Gon to 'let go'.

The 'form' of the poem is a particular kind of repetitive and image-driven word usage with lots of whitespace, called 'Ikkaban' after the culture that wrote them in the story. In case you are interested :-).

Disclaimers: All things TPM belong to George Lucas. This poem belongs to me, but I'm not making any money off it, since it didn't get used in WtB. (c) 14 August 1997

The Gravity Well

Leap! Let go!

Fall into the future
  Storm driven
  Need driven
  Angry & alone

Leap! Let go!

Fall into the world well
Fall into a place, a purpose
Fall into a present, a presence

Let gravity pull you
  down
  into the future
  down
  out of the static dark
  out of the silent dark
  down

Leap! Let go!

Fall into the world well
Fall into the future
  burning
  spinning
  yearning
  knowing

Fall into my heart

Leap! Let go!
